• As TC boss, Onwumere allegedly slaps ‘Eze yam’
The Transition Committee Chairman of Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo state, Mr. Chioma Tycoon Onwumere at the Sam Mbakwe Exco chambers, assaulted a prominent son of Onicha ward 2, popularly known as “Eze Yam” by slapping him before the mammoth crowd for daringly opposing the TC Chairman’s unilateral attempt to substitute his name as the Onicha ward 2 State Development Council coordinator.
According to an eyewitness account trouble started when the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha asked TC chairmen and some leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the state to harmonize the membership lists for proper documentation of the SDC.
The governor at the end of the meeting further directed the LG bosses to liaise with the LG party leaders and the Chief of Staff as rectified upon harmonization.
Immediately the governor left the meeting, the venue turned into a war ground for the people of Ezinihitte Mbaise council area when the list of Onicha area was called which has four wards.
While scrutinizing the names, it was discovered that the name of the famous Eze Yam, the proprietor of Eze Yam filling stations at Mbaise and Umuahia was conspicuously missing in the master list that was earlier submitted to the governor and substituted with the name of an aged weak old woman of about 75 years, popularly called Ada Mbaise.
The Ada Mbaise was thereafter discovered to be the Personal Assistant to the TC chairman.
Nigeria Newspoint gathered that the mere sighting of the name of the woman in the list caused uproar that attracted the attention of many, even security details including some of the protocol officers of the governor Irked by the sudden attention, the change attracted the TC boss, Chioma Tycoon Onwumere gave the young Eze Yam an unexpected slap for demanding to know who made the controversial change.
It was at that point that the security personnel at the venue intervened even as the list has remained unchanged. Further information revealed that it was not that the name of Ere Yam was substituted, but the TC chairman has started to ridicule perceived political opponents in her 2019 House of Reps build-up.
